Boxing in Reading
Boxing is taught across our striking programme. Here's where you'll learn it, and which session to start with.

The discipline
What boxing training involves
To be upfront: we don't run a standalone mixed boxing class. Boxing is taught as part of One Mission's wider striking programme — and it's taught properly, because it's the base of almost everything else you do standing up.
You'll develop boxing in Kickboxing, where punching technique, defence and footwork are core material; in Shoot Boxing, where boxing is paired with wrestling as a foundation for MMA; in MMA itself; and, for women, in the dedicated Ladies Boxing session.
Tell us what you want from boxing — fitness, technique, self-confidence or competition — and we'll point you at the session that fits.
What you'll learn
- Stance, guard and balance
- Punching technique and combinations (jab, cross, hook, uppercut etc.)
- Defence: parries, blocks, slips and rolls
- Footwork, angles and range
- Pad and bag work

Beginner guidance
For most people, Beginners Kickboxing is the best starting point — the hands taught there are boxing hands. If you're heading towards MMA, start with Shoot Boxing. Women can start with Ladies Boxing on Wednesday at 20:00.
Not sure? Message us with your experience and goals and we'll recommend a specific session.
Your first session is free — for adults and children alike. Message us and we'll book you in.

Questions
Boxing questions
There's no standalone mixed boxing class on our timetable, and we'd rather say that plainly. Boxing is taught as part of our wider striking programme — kickboxing, MMA and Shoot Boxing — and there's a women-only Ladies Boxing session on Wednesday at 20:00, coached by Millie Flockton. In those classes, stance, hands, defence, footwork and combination work are core material, not filler. If a dedicated mixed boxing session is what you're after, tell us; demand genuinely does shape what we add to the timetable.
